Uninstall Sophos Antivirus:

1. open settings:

2. open apps:

3. uninstall Sophos and the associated Sophos programmes: Local administrator rights are required to uninstall each of the programmes. Wait between uninstallations until the app disappears from the page. This may take a moment. After uninstalling „Sophos Anti-Virus“, a pop-up should normally appear at the bottom right of the screen with the message that Windows Defender has been reactivated.

4. open Windows Security:

5. check Windows Defender and reactivate if necessary: Windows Defender is already activated in the following image. Only the ransomware protection and the reliability-based protection under App & Browser Control are deactivated. Ransomware only offers passive protection by storing important documents in the Microsoft cloud. Reliability-based protection is disabled by default for normal Windows 10 consumer accounts, but enabled for enterprise customers. 6 Check for updates for Windows Defender Windows Defender may not have updated automatically while Sophos antivirus was installed. It is therefore recommended that you check for updates.

7. activate reliability-based protection This again requires administrator rights.
