Fortigate VPN Client for Windows
1) If the software is not installed on your device, download the Windows client directly from the manufacturer Fortinet [link] directly from the manufacturer Fortinet.
A new dialogue window will open (here the one from Internet Explorer). Here you should click on the small arrow next to Save and select „Save as“.
Then select a suitable storage location. Here in the example „Desktop“ and then click on „Save“.
To unzip the file, right-click on the file „vpn-install-win64.zip“. In the new window, select „7-Zip“ and „Unzip here“ in the submenu to unzip the file at the storage location.
You will then find an „install.exe“, please double-click on it.
If the user account control opens, confirm the dialogue with Yes.
The installation of the VPN client is started. In the new window, tick the box next to „I accept the agreement“ and then click Next.

After successful installation, the following window appears, confirm this with „Finish“
The following icon appears on the desktop, double-click to start it
After the client has been started, please tick the box and click on „I accept“.
Then click on the 3 dashes and enter the data as shown below.
Please enter your user name and password in the login screen, then click on „Connect“.
After clicking on „Connect“, the VPN tunnel will be established. The following information will appear in the bottom right-hand corner and you can access your university data as usual.
When you have finished your work, you can disconnect by clicking on the arrow in the bottom right-hand corner with the left mouse button. Then right-click on the green Forticlient symbol to open the menu window. In the window, select the item „Disconnect 'VPN Landshut University of Applied Sciences'“ and confirm by left-clicking.
After successful disconnection, the following information is displayed at the bottom right:
