Note: These instructions only apply to employees of HaW Landshut. Students do not have the opportunity to apply for a certificate.

Employees of the university should apply for a digital certificate for signing and encrypting emails. Only one certificate should be requested per shared mailbox. Please talk to your colleagues before applying for a certificate. A valid certificate may already exist and you may only need to link it in Outlook.

Application:

1. Log in to the SSO-Portal log in.

2. Click on the „Certificates“ tile.

3. Enter the desired shared mailbox in the „Request a new certificate for a shared mailbox“ area. Please note that your rights for the mailbox are automatically checked. You may only request a certificate for mailboxes that you are authorised to connect in Outlook.

4. Check the details and assign a password for the certificate that follows our general guidelines. [This means that the password must begin with an upper/lower case letter, contain at least one number and one special character (- _ # ! ? : ;). Furthermore, the password must may not contain umlauts].

Then click on „Apply“.

5. After a few minutes the certificate is ready to download. To do this, please open the certificate list with the „View my certificate list“ button:

Please note, in this list you will only find the certificates you have requested, not all certificates for function mailboxes.

6. Download the certificate:

7. Then you can link the certificate in Outlook. Please follow the instructions „How do I install my certificate in Outlook?“.
