The virtual desktop infrastructure (VDI) of Service IT provides you with virtual desktop computers via the Internet, which run on servers within the data centres of Landshut University of Applied Sciences. These virtual computers can be used device-independently and worldwide and can be customised to the user's requirements in terms of equipment and the operating system used.

Prerequisites:

  • You need an existing enrolment or an active employment relationship at Landshut University of Applied Sciences
  • You need a valid HAW user ID
  • You need a stable internet connection (usable from 5 MBit/s)

If you fulfil the requirements, you can carry out the following steps:

In your browser, call up the page vdi.haw-landshut.de in your browser. Select the following option: „Install VMware Horizon Client“

Select the appropriate operating system for the VMware Horizon Client to be installed and download it. All common operating systems and even mobile devices and tablets are supported. To do this, click on „Go to Downloads“ at the end of the corresponding line.

Start the file you have just downloaded. Then click on „Accept and install“ to accept the data protection agreement and the licence terms and start the installation.

The VMware Horizon Client will be installed.

Then click on „Finish“.

Then press „Restart now“

Double-click on the „Add server“ button.

Enter the following as the name of the connection server: vdi.haw-landshut.de Then press „Connect“.
