Installation of FortiClient on MacOS:

On the homepage of the manufacturer Fortinet you will find under https://www.fortinet.com/support/product-downloads#vpn the installation files, scroll to „FortiClient VPN“ and use the corresponding button under Download VPN for MacOS.

Start the download with the online installer for Big Sur and Monterey:

A message appears stating that this installer has been downloaded from the Internet. To run this Open is selected.

Click on this to start the installation.

Installation:

Click on „Continue“.

The licence conditions are accepted by clicking on „Continue“ and then clicking on „Accept“ in the pop-up.

Click on „Install software“ and enter the admin password.

The installation is successfully completed as soon as this window appears:

Additional authorisations for Monterey

FortiClient 7 displays the following message that extensions are blocked:

Therefore, the system settings are opened by clicking on „Open system settings „Security““.

„Allow“ must be selected here.

Please click on „Open File Access“. The following windows will open:

To edit, please click on the lock and log in with your admin account.

After logging in with an admin account, you can then tick the boxes for „fctservctl2“ and „FortiClient“:

Next to „Loading the system software of the „FortiTray“ programme has been blocked“, click on „Allow“.

After installation, create a new VPN connection under „REMOTE ACCESS“.
